Our guide Bianba Ciren (邊巴次仁) and driver picked us up and we started a three-day excursion east from Lhasa to the Nyingtri Prefecture (林芝地區). On this day, we traveled 400km/250mi on G318 to Bayi (八一) for overnight stay.
Just east of Lhasa, a suspension bridge over the Lhasa River.

Dairy cows in the Lhasa River valley.

Very nice new houses along the G318.

Bathroom break at the birthplace of Songtsan Gampo (松贊干布).

Still in the Lhasa RIver valley.

Older villages. High voltage lines all the way from Lhasa to Bayi in Nyingtri.

Yaks grazing at close to 5,000m/16,400ft.

Approaching the 5,013m Par-La Pass (米拉山口).

Looking west at the way we came up.

Little-explored peaks north of the pass.

Huge sea of prayer flags.

Down the pass to the east.

Buses ahead of us towards Nyingtri.

Tents of the Yak ranchers.
