One of 5 tours on Saturday morning. We toured Continental's backup facility in Montgomery, TX, about 35 miles NW of IAH, and 50 miles from Downtown Houston.
The bunker and associated office building was built in the early 80's by Louis Kung, whose mother is oldest of the "Soong Sisters", Soong Ai-Ling. [The younger sisters married Sun Yat-Sen and Chiang Kai-Shek respectively.] The facility was built basically to survive a nuclear WWIII. Continental and other companies started renting space as backup facilities following the 2005 hurricanes or Katrina and Rita.

Arrived at the Bunker in Montgomery, Texas.

The bunker is built at the highest point in area.

Chinese decoration remains in the lobby of the 4-storey office building.

CO provided us with bagels from Panera Bread.

All terminals are "hot" at all times. Windows made of bullet-proof glass.

CO has run the airline out of this facility about 6 times as live drills.
