We flew into Palermo the night of 12/23 and stayed for two nights in this capital of Sicily and 5th largest city in Italy (after Rome, Milan, Naples and Turin).

Arrived at PMO. Plane parked on tarmac, then a 1-minute bus ride to terminal.

"Bye Bye, LOT" refering to the Polish flag carrier.

3* Hotel Elite is one of 6 hotels in this group of buildings.

Lobby is on 5th floor.

Nice sitting area near our room.

Entrance on Via Mariano Stabile.

Lots of high-end stores (not open yet) near hotel on Via Ruggero Settimo.

Two minutes away is Teatro Massimo.

The opera house was closed for over 20 years. Only reopened recently.

3rd largest in seating area in Europe (after Garnier in Paris and Weiner Staatsoper).

2nd largest stage (after Bastille in Paris).

The Godfather Part III (1990) was shot on location here.

Bronze statue symbolizes "Tragedy".

Verdi. The theater opened in 1897 with his Falstaff.
