I spent Independence Day weekend in NYC. Hadn't been there for a few years, and I had never watched the fireworks there either.

Long story, but I ended up staying at the Sheraton NY Towers for one night and the Westin Time Square for the second. I invited myself to my sister's friends Jeffrey and Hyde's apartment in Midtown East.

Took the 17-55IS and the Tokina 11-16 on this trip.

First time in a NYC cab for many years.

Long story, but I got a free room at the Sheraton NY Towers.

Not too bad.

View towards the SW across 52nd and 7th.

NYC has old high-platform buses.

I was taking bus M104 crosstown to Jeffrey and Hyde's.

Beautiful apartment.

View to the South.

View to the NE.

UN Secretariat Buidling on 42nd and East River.

Private boats getting in position to watch the fireworks.

Fireworks would be launched from those 3 barges.

Sammy.

Initially, we could see fireworks from all 3 barges.

Very soon, we could only see those from the far left barge.
