Day 4, 9-24. We departed Katsuyama and drove north on Hwy 157, then east on the scenic Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road to the UNESCO World Heritage site, stopping along the way for pictures and a quick bite.

Beautiful National Hwy 157 on the east side of Hakusan.

Quite a number of cyclists along the way on this Sunday in early fall.

And many bike caravans. We were under a snow shed.

More snow sheds. Heavy snow on the northern slopes of the Japan Alps.

In fact, one of the snowiest place on earth.

Like many snowy places on earth, road construction is limited to summer time.

Entering the Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road. 1,400yen, or about HK$100 or US$12.5.
