Start of our 12-day long trip from Lhasa out west to Ali (阿里). We first visited the famous Yamdrok-Tso (羊卓雍錯), had lunch in Nagarze (浪卡子), stopped at Karola Glacier (卡若拉冰川) & Gyantse (江孜) before arriving at Shigatse (日喀则, 2nd largest city in Tibet).
Leaving Lhasa on the G318, we just crossed the Yarlung Tsangpo at Quxu (曲水).

Starting the1,200m/3,900ft climb on the S307, or Southern Friendship Highway.
Very barren landscape, but with habitants nevertheless.
When a roof collapse, Tibetans usually just abadon that building.
We climbed 1,200m/3900ft in 22km/14mi. Average grade of over 5%.
Villagers dressed up the yaks for tourists to take pictures with.
Very close to the 4,794m/15,730ft Kamba-la Pass (岗巴拉山口).
Last look towards the Yarlung Tsangpo to the north.
On the other side of Kamba-La Pass is Yamdrok-Tso (羊卓雍錯), one of the 3 most scared lakes in Tibet.
