Last of your working days at Butuo, we had the longest car rides of the journey. Because of landslides, we had to make a long detour on our way to Luojiaping ( 羅家坪 ) to check out the primary school there. The 4-hour ride there brought us over a 2,600m/8,500ft pass, then down to the Jinshajiang at 580m/1,900ft, before climbing back up to 1,750m/5,700ft. All treacherous roads.

On our way back to Butuo, we saw lots of Yi villagers heading back from the market at Tuojue ( 拖覺 ). Then we visited the school at Jiudu ( 九都鄉 ), where a new 3-storey classroom building has just been completed and will wear my aunt's name.

We switched breakfast place this morning. Similar food, however.

Dumplings are made fresh.

How many people are needed to change a flat?

We had a 30 minute rest just past Tuojue.

Frost over a mountain pass.

Highest point around 2,600m/8.500ft.

Then it was straight down for 2,000m/6,500ft.

Checkpoint probably for brake inspections of heavy vehicles.
