We visited four primary schools this day, all within pretty short distances, and not too far from the Butuo county seat. First, Tuojue Huoluojue ( 拖覺 火洛覺村 ) to re-inspect a school completed in 2004. Second, Laguo ( 拉果 ) to check construction progress on a new classroom building. Third, Wuyi ( 烏依 ) to look at an overcrowded school asking for help to fund a new building.

After lunch back in Laguo, we went to Luogu ( 洛古 ), again to look at a school asking for funding. While in Luogu, we visited a typical Yi village house.

Heading south on the main county highway ( 縣道 ).

Down a short spur towards Luogu ( 洛古鄉 ).

A fairly large reservoir for the town of Tuojue ( 拖覺 ), or maybe for Butuo itself as well.

Some typical Yi village houses at Luogu. Note the mud walls.

Very common decorations in the front of the houses.

This one doesn't have it.

View from the village.

9:30am and nobody at the school. Principal not answering his cell.

Few more kids arriving. School starts 10:30a, and some kids walk over an hour each way.

Passing through Tuojue ( 拖覺 ), probably largest town in Butuo after the county seat.

Check out those pink and blue plastic basins for sale.

Village of Huoluojue ( 火洛覺村 ) just beyond Tuojue.

We are here to re-inspect a small Grade 1-3 school.

This 3-room building and a toilet are the donated part.
