I cannot drive after surgery, so I took the L.A. Subway (for the 1st time) to go places. Took the Purple Line from Koreatown to Downtown, then switch to the Blue Line lightrail all the way to Long Beach. Day pass cost $5.

Only took the 35L.

Trip starts from my apartment in Koreatown. This hotel on Oxford Ave is one block from my place.

One of the many taco vans in the neighborhood.

My favorite Korean supermarket.

Many new condos. This is probably the prettiest.

Public Library. Behind it is a driving range.

Wilshire Blvd, looking east.

An almost completed luxury highrise at Wilshire/Western.

Wiltern Theater across from subway entrance.

A mural at the Western/Wiltern station.

Purple Line train towards Union Station.

No passing between some cars.

Very wide cars. Lots of seats.

4 stops later, at 7th/Metro Center.

Blue Line platforms directly above Red/Purple Line, at 90-degree.

Blue Line is a lightrail.

Train approaching.

Cars made by Nippon Sharyo in 1989. Very smooth and quiet.

Ocean Blvd in Long Beach, lined with hotels, luxury apartments and palm trees. Little traffic.

LB Convention Center.
