My first visit to the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades. It is the original location of the J. Paul Getty Museum before the opening of the Getty Center. It underwent massive restoration and reopened recently.

Modeled after the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum that was buried in Vesuvius ashes in 79AD.

All shot with the 17-55.

View of the main entrance from the top of the new amphitheater.

The Atrium.

The Marbury Hall Zeus on right.

Youth as a Lamp Bearer - long-term loan from Naples.

The Lansdowne Herakles.

The floor in the Temple of Herakles is modeled after one in Pompei.

Sacrophagus with Scenes from the Life of Achilles.

Bronze muses in the Inner Peristyle.

Modern copies of what might have been placed in Roman times.

The hallway between the two peristyles. In Roman times, it is the dining area.

A nice tiramisu for break.
